HAR readers are kindly reminded that the call for papers of the First International Conference of the Histories of Anthropologies, Doing Histories, Imagining Futures (organized by HOAN, the History of Anthropology Network of the European Association for Social Anthropology) will close on June 30, 2023.
The event will be held online between 4-7 December 2023 and it is collaboratively organised by the key stakeholders in our field to discuss methodological, theoretical, pedagogical, and ethical aspects of the histories of anthropologies. We can now announce the conference’s two KEYNOTE LECTURES:
- Solimar Otero (Indiana University, Bloomington): “Embedded and Engaged: Framing Ethnographic Futures in Inhabited Pasts”
- Thomas Hylland Eriksen (University of Oslo): “The Many Languages in the History of European Anthropology”
As well as a ROUNDTABLE:
- “Writing Transnational Histories of Anthropologies,” Convenors: Gustavo Lins Ribeiro (Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, México, Universidade de Brasília) and Susana Narotzky (Universidad de Barcelona, España)
Notifications of accepted papers will be sent by July 15, 2023.
The organizers, the HOAN conveners Fabiana Dimpflmeier & Hande Birkalan-Gedik, warmly invite those working in this field to submit a paper proposal!
